About being a psychic
The word psychic is derived from the Greek word psychikos (of the soul/mental) and refers in part to the human mind or psyche and to the ability to perceive things hidden from the senses through means of extra sensory perception.
Science says that extra sensorial perception does not exist. Despite this, so many people have had first hand experience with it. There is a whole phenomenon that has developed based upon psychic ability. And as Sally Morgan said, why do we always have to prove to the skeptics that the psychic ability is real?
How about, for a change, we turn the table around and let the skeptics prove to us that there isn't such thing as psychic ability?
Why would we think she is right? Well most of you have heard of Sally Morgan, the well known psychic, though, maybe not so many know that she has been put to test, astounding renowned scientists like professor Gary E Schwartz from Harvard University.
Now let's break that myth about being a psychic.
I have noticed that lately, avoiding the word "psychic" has become a new trend. The words "empathic" and "intuitive" seem to be the preferred. Well whatever we choose to call it, we should be grateful for it, for is the only thing we can rely on, when our minds and hearts can't give us direction.
And for those saying that being a psychic is not such a good thing I have very bad news. They are psychics too! We all are psychics! We all have the psychic ability, just like the other senses, eyesight, smell, hearing, touch and taste. Especially if we would rather call it intuition, who could possibly say they have no intuition, no gut feeling?
The only difference is that some of us choose to develop it and use it, as a hobby or as a profession. Like wine tasters use their sense of tasting, or people in the perfume industry use their well sense of smell.
And yes, unfortunately there are charlatans in this profession just like in any other one. On the bright side though, please remember, without love, dedication and being true, there is no way somebody can last in this activity.
There are countless psychics out there, that have talent and respect for their work. They have built up an outstanding reputation for both, themselves as individuals and the profession itself.
Clairvoyance (coming from French with 'clair' meaning clear and 'voyance' - 'vision' ) is the ability of getting information through images, in a way other than the known five senses. The clairvoyant 'sees' through the 'Third Eye' Chakra which is related to the act of seeing, both physically and intuitively. When open and balanced, the eyebrow chakra opens our psychic faculties and our understanding of archetypal levels.
Tarot can be a very good example with regards to the controversy about unassisted clairvoyance and the use of focusing tools. There are documents mentioning decks of cards similar to the Tarot since 1418 but apparently the Tarot hasn't been used as a tool of divination until after 1700. Tarot has become increasingly popular around 1910, with the publication of the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot and has been passed to the English speaking world by The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Divination with Tarot might seem easy at a first glance, hence the army of Tarot readers, which wrongly thought that by studying the pictures and the explanatory books would be enough to give an accurate Tarot reading. Well that's very wrong, because without acknowledging their psychic ability beforehand, they will only be like a child at school, looking at a picture and trying to make up a story based on that picture.
Sometimes they might get lucky, but most of the time they put the Tarot readings in a bad light.
A Tarot deck is a very powerful focusing tool. The pictures help the psychic focus almost in an instant. I found it very useful with my readings for the psychic line.
However A Tarot deck can be merely a key that opens the gate to the Universal knowledge.
Another focusing tool similar to the Tarot is a deck of ordinary playing cards. It is said that this form of divination was most commonly used by people of romani (gipsy) origin. However it is also widely spread in France and English speaking countries. The Emperor Napoleon was using them frequently, or so they say.
Unlike the Tarot, the deck of playing cards is not so used for meditation and discovery of ones life journey but can give very detailed information and is great for predictions.
A psychic reading can be based on unassisted clairvoyance (clairaudience, clairsentience, psychometry and so on) or the information can be received by making use of focusing tools, like playing cards, Tarot decks, crystal ball, tea leaves, coffee grounds and so many others.
People tend to believe that one method is better than another, but it's capital to understand that what works for one person doesn't work the same way for everyone. Each psychic uses different methods, important is to get an accurate reading.
